Eat & Drink

Your guide to gastronomic delights

Teeming with fantastic restaurants, wine bars, vineyards and cafes, your palate will enjoy every part of a visit to Central NSW. But the food experience in this part of the world means more than sitting down for a beautiful meal or sipping an inspiring glass of wine. Being tightly woven into the land, its history and its people, the food story here can put you in black tie and gumboots for a truffle hunt, in a farm-house kitchen learning to cook, tasting bush-tucker over a smoky camp fire or following the trail of the 100 Mile Diet.

Windowrie is one of the Cowra Wine Region’s founding winemakers. Established by the O’Dea family in 1987. Over the years Windowrie has carefully nurtured the vines with the belief that great wines start in the vineyard. The land is highly productive and particularly well irrigated. These vineyards are some of the oldest productive vineyards in the region and produce low-yielding, super-premium fruit. With over 30 years of experience making wine from these vineyards, the family have an in-depth understanding of the quality of fruit that can be produced.Windowrie has always practised minimal intervention in their vineyards. Windowrie currently have 80 acres of organically certified vineyards with a further 50 acres “in conversion” to organic certification. Many of the organic practices are used in the conventional vineyards including grazing sheep instead of using herbicides. Please note that you cannot visit Windowrie Wines except during organized tours or at the annual Windowrie Long Lunch.
